STUDY OF POLYMER CONCRETE FOR COMPOSITE PRE-CAST GRATING APPLICATION

Abstract

The project is applied from observations on a typical drain cover. The objective of this project is to design and make pre-cast gratings using polymer concrete materials for industrial use. In addition, there are several study scopes that have been set in this project that is,, 3 prototypes will be made separately with different polymer concrete ratios and one of them is a common drain in the market, testing specimen material made with the same test that is immersed in water for 3 days and the material for the tested prototype will be recorded in terms of aspects of mass change before and after the immersion process. All this is set to solve some problems that arise with existing use such as, Precast concrete can be challenging with a lack of flexibility once the structure has been built and delivered to the work site, the metal is otherwise prone to theft and can be dangerous again because if the grille is lost, accidents can occurs and metal gratings are also expensive to manufacture. The material for this project must also have special characteristics that is to have high impact resistance and high compressive strength, based on the literature review conducted AG4RT2 is the most suitable for this project. While for the component formation process, methodological study is used to plan the project production process by using flow charts as a guide for production planning and project testing. As a result, the entire project was successfully produced with an average time saving rate compared to the traditional method of 36.67%. Based on these results, the results of the analysis and discussions that have been conducted, it can be concluded that this Polymer Concrete Pre-Cast Grating has achieved the objectives that have been discussed. In addition, this product is also proven to be better than existing concrete cement.
